Gu Yan can judge a person's authenticity from his appearance and inside, but he has never seriously judged himself. He could see through the hypocrisy of the whole city, but he couldn't see through himself. Precisely because he is so good at judging people, whenever Gu Yan made a decision in the early stage, he always wanted to wait for a perfect situation where all the conditions were favorable to him; once the situation was out of control, he would worry about gains and losses, unwilling to admit the limitations of his choices, nor accept that he would lose. It wasn't until the day and night when all the suffering came at once that he finally understood: Seeing through is not knowledge, only daring to do it is; recognizing one's own choices and taking on the consequences of their choices is. The book consists of eight volumes in total, each corresponding to one of the hexagrams in "Yi": Lu, small animal, Gu, sleepiness, need, peeling, , and guan. The hexagram is not destiny that makes choices for him, but the echo of his choices. As soon as Gu Yan moved, the hexagram he was in would change accordingly; the deeper he moved, the deeper the hexagram would change.
