1.7 Million years ago, when the first human raised his head and looked at the stars, he had no idea that his descendants would use the theory of relativity to measure that darkness. When Einstein wrote E=mc² in 1905, he probably did not expect that this equation would completely rewrite human beings' understanding of their situation. Space is not a container, and time is not a river—they are longitude and latitude lines on the same piece of cloth that can be bent, stretched, or even torn. Along this clue, humans dismantle all the way down: atoms, quarks, and strings. Assemble all the way up: molecules, cells, life, planets, galaxies. Each layer is an "atom" of the previous one - a pattern that repeats itself like some kind of prank. Then we looked up and saw the Milky Way. Two hundred billion stars, four hundred billion planets, a disk-shaped structure with a diameter of 120,000 light-years, slowly rotated for 13.6 Billion years. Our solar system is just a third rock next to an ordinary yellow dwarf star at the end of one of its spiral arms. But here comes the weirdest thing. The Milky Way is not at the center of the universe. It's not in any busy place. It floats in a vast expanse of void known as the KBC void—a nearly empty region more than 300 million light-years across. It's like an isolated island, deliberately placed in the "suburbs" of the universe. Why? Is it a coincidence? Is it a natural consequence of the evolution of gravity? Or - is there something that put our galaxy into this hole?
