Invalid Input: Old Site

The city of Tosokawa announced that it had successfully avoided a blizzard. But there was no snow that day, just a brief cool down and icy roads. Algorithm auditor Lin Zhao found two prediction versions fifty-one minutes apart with opposite conclusions in an acceptance report for "Blizzard Risks Successfully Averted." The system did not leave a reason for the version switch, and the missing fields were only marked with four words: Invalid input. The report lists a number as "approximately two percent," while the original feedback number was 3,106; the label in the appendix reads: Refusal to cooperate. A historical interface that predates the public system by eight years, and an old meteorological station that is marked as deactivated but still uploads data in the early morning are being quietly connected by the same invisible translation layer. Heating pipelines in the old furnace area, wind direction records in the mountain peaks, scans sent anonymously... Lin Zhao followed the coordinates to the mountain and met Shen Yanqiu, the ecological monitor who guarded the originals of the old weather station. One believes in the records in the system, and the other believes in the scene behind the records. They have to face the same problem: When a system has the power to decide what counts as "valid input", who can prove that the reality they see is true? Science fiction suspense in near future society. AI will not destroy the world - it will just decide for humans what information is worth trusting.
