Top Secret Mission

During the Anti-Japanese War, white terror enveloped Shanghai. Wang Yaoshan, an underground party member, was charged with a top-secret task related to the inheritance of the revolutionary spirit: trying to safely escort Fang Zhimin's "Lovely China" and "Poverty" and other precious relics written in prison to Yan'an. Before Fang Zhimin died, he risked his life and entrusted the manuscript to inmates. After several transfers, it fell into the hands of Shanghai underground party organizations. At that time, Shanghai was densely populated by spies, searches and arrests were everywhere, and transportation lines were frequently destroyed. Wang Yaoshan concealed his identity and dealt with the dangerous lurking environment. While avoiding the enemy's investigation and arrest, he contacted secret traffic stations. On the way to complete the top-secret mission, he was surrounded by dangers, encountered several interrogations, and faced the risk of being exposed and sacrificed at any time. He carefully disguised his identity, cleverly resolved numerous dangers, passed through layers of blockades, and after many journeys, finally delivered the heavy manuscript to Yan'an in its entirety. These words soaked in blood and tears have been preserved and circulated. Fang Zhimin's ardent ideals of family and country and noble integrity broke through the darkness and were passed on to the base area, becoming the spiritual fire that inspired countless revolutionaries to move forward bravely. The novel uses this hidden historical fact to portray the forbearing and fearless heroic character of underground workers, and looks back at the unknown mission and persistence on the hidden front in the revolutionary era.
