Playing Games in the Attic: I Challenge Overseas Giants

After giving up a high-paying overseas offer, the international student Hu Shuai returned to his hometown and lived in a dilapidated attic in an urban village in Guangzhou with his childhood friend Zhang Ye. The two roped in Lin Wan, a national defense education major, and established Zero Kongwu Studio from scratch, determined to make a popular science game to promote China's military industry. The rents are high, the version number is blocked, and capital is waving money to force them to castrate their core in order to survive. Across the ocean, overseas military gaming giant Anvil Entertainment regarded this grassroots team as a thorn in its side. Patent litigation, piracy, tampering and smearing, bribery of the media to control the situation, DDoS network attacks, containment of rebranded competing products, and public opinion framing at international conferences, overt and covert attacks followed one after another. There is no system, no rebirth, no boss from heaven. There are only two second-hand computers, stacks of hand-drawn manuscripts, and an original intention that refuses to bow. They rely on technology and evidence to unite Chinese people and science practitioners at home and abroad to protect themselves in a difficult way. From the precarious attic, through the turbulent waves overseas, and across the numerous traps of transnational business wars. They not only want to keep the game alive, but also want to popularize Chinese national defense science to young people around the world.
