Wen Yiduo wore out twelve pairs of straw sandals and drew fifty sketches of mountains and rivers along the way; six students contracted malaria and trekked alone in the mountains for twenty-one days, writing dual diaries of survival and study with a half-broken pen. In the front, there were bandits in the deep mountains blocking the road, and in the back, there were Japanese bombings and reinforcements. Zhang Zhizhong sent an open letter to seventeen hills, and the bandit leader replied: "Although it is a green forest, it is also Yanhuang." From then on, the bandits made way for this group of scholars, escorted them, and delivered food. This is a war without guns. A group of scholars use their feet to measure broken mountains and rivers, and use books to protect the dying cultural heritage of a nation. Thirty-five hundred miles, 267 people set out and 253 people completed the journey. No step is missing, no one is lost.
