This chapter is adapted from real experiences. In 1990, China was in the early stages of reform and opening up, and the college entrance examination system had been restored for more than ten years. The way for children from rural families to change their destiny through the examination was relatively simple. Technical secondary schools had a very high social status at that time, and "package distribution" meant a lifetime meal ticket. This book attempts to restore the several falls of a top student in the tide of the times, and the profound impact of each fall on a person's thirty-year life.
