Humanity has spent two thousand years spreading star gates throughout the galaxy. From then on, the distance of 300 light years only takes seven minutes. Until Ji Lin, a frontier maintenance worker, received a distress signal from 312 years in the future. The sender is the future self. That day, humans knew for the first time that the Star Gate had never shortened the distance. It just borrows time from the future.
