All Things Patch up the Sky

I am going to write a story based on the traditional cultivation of Taoism in China. The core structure comes from two major classics: First, "Zhou Yi Shen Tong Qi" and the four steps of inner alchemy - refining qi → refining qi and turning spirit → refining spirit and returning emptiness → refining emptiness and combining Tao. This is the fundamental sequence of inner alchemy and corresponds to the cultivation path of the six realms of the human world. Second, the theory of the Five Immortals in "Zhonglu Chuan Dao Ji" - ghost immortals, human immortals, earth immortals, gods, and heavenly immortals. This is the classic Taoist division of the realm of immortality, corresponding to the three realms of the spiritual world and the three realms of the immortal world. Each of the twelve realms is divided into three small stages, with a total of thirty-six levels - coincident with the thirty-six numbers of Tiangang, and also structurally echoing the thirty-six fragments of the Vientiane Wheel.
