Republican Era: The Young Master Wants Revolution

In 1926, Tang Liudao, the eldest son of the Tang family in Wuxi, returned home from Saint John's University with his head full of new ideas and his heart set on saving the nation. But reality slapped him across the face again and again. Within his clan, his childhood companion was beaten to death, his father died from anger, and he was cast out with nothing. In Shanghai, he joined the Green Gang and rose through his own ability, only to discover that the gang and the authorities were in league with each other. With the National Revolutionary Army, he abandoned his writing brush for the sword, only to face the blood of April 12 and the bitter cold of the trenches at Songhu. The Kuomintang could not save the country. With the expeditionary force, he made it out of the Savage Mountain alive after surviving countless brushes with death. He thought that fighting the Japanese could not possibly be wrong, only to discover that fighting the Japanese alone could not save the country. It was not until the Yunnan Uprising of 1949 that he finally found a fifth path. Only the Communist Party could save China.
