War Narrative

This is a documentary novel about war, but it hardly describes the war positively. The recorder, Lin Yuan, 35 years old, is a former newspaper reporter who entered the fictional siege city of Chelsea as a member of the Humanitarian Observation Organization. He originally only wanted to stay for seventeen days, take some photos, write some words, and then leave. But he found that the people in this city were not waiting for rescue—they were waiting for dawn, for water to boil, for a letter, for a chicken to lay an egg, for a ceasefire that they didn't know would come. They continued to live between gunfire.
