Yin and Yang Tribulation

The corpse exorcism sect was founded in the late Southern Song Dynasty. The founder of the sect, Chen Xuanling, was originally an orthodox Taoist priest in Longhu Mountain. He broke with his fellow sect because he advocated that "the souls of the dead should be saved rather than destroyed" and went to western Hunan alone. In the mountains of western Hunan, he discovered the technique of using the balance of yin and yang to control corpses and guide the souls of the dead, and founded a sect. The name of the sect, " Corpse Exorcist", may seem crude, but in fact it means "driving the souls of the dead back to their homeland" - the original disciples of the Corpse Exorcist sect were all "corpse exorcists" who brought the corpses back to their hometowns for people who died in foreign lands. The corpse exorcism sect is regarded as an evil path by the righteous way. The fundamental reason is not that they do evil, but that their techniques touch the taboo of the righteous way: dealing with the dead. From the perspective of the righteous way, manipulating corpses is a blasphemy to the souls of the dead; but the corpse exorcists believe that it is the greatest good to let the people in the corpse wilderness rest in peace and to free the souls who cannot enter reincarnation. This conflict of ideas lasted for eight hundred years.
