2247: Swift Files

2247, New Yokohama. Cyborgs, giant corporations, and underground networks have long been part of urban life. Private detective Kuze Seiji takes on commissions that are not worthy of news every day: finding missing persons, investigating extramarital affairs, and uncovering old records that have been deliberately buried. He is used to arriving for appointments five minutes early, and he is also used to saying something before trusting anyone: "I need more information." Until a seemingly ordinary commission brought him to an old case that had been closed long ago. A file called "Swiss Swallow" leads to the materials left by Haruka Aizawa's father, the missing freight records at the port, and an accident that never really ended. From Shin-Yokohama to ports, hotels and cities along the route, Kuze and Haruka Aizawa, police officer Yoshitaka Kurosaki, and bar owner Ken Morita gradually approached this clue. Some people want the truth to come to light, some just want to protect the people who are still alive, and some must take responsibility for the silence many years ago. There is no world-saving hero here, nor is there a behind-the-scenes villain who can be easily defeated. Every time a case is investigated, Kuze must make a choice: Should the truth be made public, should it be protected, or should it be left to the living? This is a near-future urban detective story about rainy nights, old files, prosthetics and ordinary people.
