In the future world, a genetically modified "super grain" allows people to survive solely on it, at the cost of gradually losing their emotions. Agriculturist Lin Shen was sent to the mysterious grain research community and found that the residents were smiling and behaved uniformly, as neatly as a harvested wheat field. He tried to bring back samples to reveal the truth, but in the last bite of community ration porridge, he tasted the long-lost "sweetness". That sweetness comes from his memory.
