Fictional City of Apocalypse

In a modern city divided by "apocalypse", every resident will receive a "chess code" - one of the twelve chess player identities - on their 18th awakening day. Players who play chess have supernatural abilities, but they must abide by the "Apocalypse Rules": an "Apocalypse Game" is held every seven days. The winner will receive "days" to extend his life, while the loser will be "downgraded" - permanently losing his identity as a chess player and becoming the lowest "blank slate".
