Xiao Jinghu, a Confucian scholar in the late Qing Dynasty, happened to read verses from the Diamond Sutra when his family was in turmoil and his mother was seriously ill. His Confucian beliefs were shaken violently. In that turbulent era, how did an intellectual face the crisis of faith? Can he find salvation in Buddhism, or will he sink into deeper confusion?
