In 1931, after the September 18th Incident broke out, the defending company commander Chen Yan led more than 50 soldiers to escape from Beida Camp and entered Hadal Ridge in Jilin. Later, the team grew to more than 60 people, and they went north to participate in the Battle of Jiangqiao and fought head-on with the Japanese army. After the Battle of Jiangqiao, the team lost sixteen more brothers. After withdrawing from Jiangqiao, they moved to Yangdachengzi, Huaide County, and captured Tiandequan Shaoguo controlled by the rebel Wang Yongqing. During this period, they attacked pro-Japanese businessmen in Changchun, and their team grew to more than 200 people. In 1932, most of the team moved to Chenjiagou in Nuruerhu Mountain to fight against the Japanese with Guan Zhenshan's Broadsword Team. In 1933, they participated in the Battle of Beipiao and the Battle of Xifengkou. Later, they moved to the northwest ditch in the south of Qilaotu Mountain to establish a camp. They cooperated with the national battlefield and persisted in resisting Japan in Chengde, Chifeng, and Chaoyang areas until the Japanese surrender in 1945. The place names and details in the novel are all realistic.
