Gaming Empire: Starting from Atari's Ruins

In the fall of 1983, bulldozers buried millions of Atari cartridges in a landfill in Alamogordo, New Mexico, plunging the North American game industry into its darkest hour. Chen Lin, a Chinese immigrant, was laid off by his company and faced an expired visa and life on the streets. But amid the ruins, he unexpectedly awakened the Archive of the Ninth Art. Starting with his first line of code in a shabby motel, Chen Lin built a vast gaming empire atop the industry’s ruins. He snapped up classic patents, broke the console makers’ stranglehold on royalties, drove the 3D graphics revolution, and established a digital distribution platform and a global esports league. He conquered the world through the Ninth Art, ultimately becoming a legend in both Silicon Valley and the gaming world.
