Remembering the Starry Sky

"You're not a liar. You're a starving bastard." At the heart of the whole story is hunger. The first spirit is hungry, so it tears itself apart. The second spirit is hungry, so it runs away. The rock is hungry, fill it with order. Whisper is hungry, fill it with voice. Abyss is hungry and devours it. Silent is also hungry - he eats banned books, truth, lies, and is never full. In the end, those who starve God are the only ones who admit that they are hungry. "They don't need God. They never need God." This is not a god-killing story. It is a story about God discovering that he does not need to be God.
