My Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine Chat Group

As the saying goes, Chinese medicine treats the root, while Western medicine treats the symptoms. Put them together and, well... you get a mess. In this modern age of declining traditional medicine and drug testing, Li Xian is lucky enough to be a first-year student in an integrated Chinese and Western medicine program. By chance, he joins the “Apricot Grove Pivot” chat group, home to twenty renowned physicians from China and abroad, past and present. When the interplay of yin and yang and the five elements meets the language of infectious disease pathology, when meridians and collaterals meet anatomy and physiology, and when the four natures, five flavors, and channel tropism meet chemical pharmacology, the arguments and sparks nearly drown Li Xian. A white-browed old man with a beard reaching his waist declares solemnly, “Aversion to wind, fever, and slight stiffness in the limbs: this is a Taiyang disorder. It should be treated with Cinnamon Twig Decoction Plus Aconite.” A big-bearded man shouts, “Dissection! We must dissect! The truth is hidden in the grain of every muscle!” A bald old man says, “This pulse is as chaotic as Xiang Yu breaking through the encirclement!” A bespectacled middle-aged man cries, “Germs! It’s all germs! Disinfection is better than anything else!” And then there’s the mischievous old man who wants to taste everything: “I’ll know this substance’s nature, flavor, and channel tropism after just one taste!” Bearing the hopes of generations of medical pioneers and holding fast to the mission of healing the sick and saving lives, Li Xian stands on the shoulders of giants. He learns from a hundred schools of thought, brings Chinese and Western medicine together, and ultimately becomes a master of his generation.
