Seven Counter-Proposals

During the Kaiyuan period, a woman who was divorced for being "childless and talkative" knew that she had to do two things from the day she was divorced - to rescue her sold daughter and prove that "seven divorces" were wrong. She spent thirty years weaving a "net of counter-claims" in Dunhuang, Chang'an, and Luoyang, training seven generations of female scriveners, and fighting with Pei Tingyun, the Minister of Rites, using words as the battlefield for thirty years - her most secret student was the daughter of the prime minister of the dynasty; and she spent her whole life learning to save the world's daughters, but she could not save her own daughter.
