Drunk, I Wander the Empty Sky

Also known as A Lonely Drunkenness at the Edge of the World:

Eighteen years ago, on a dark and stormy night, a prestigious martial arts clan was wiped out in a single evening. Two “brothers” were separated, and a divine sword was broken in two. The truth sank into the abyss, while hatred grew wildly in their blood and bones.

He is refined and otherworldly, yet carefree and unrestrained. With a broken sword in hand, he seeks only one answer: who was to blame that night?

He is mysterious and calculating, navigating the shadows of the imperial court and the whirlpool of the demonic cult.

They investigate the same bloody case, yet stand on opposite sides of the truth. Distance is their armor, and suspicion their blade. The face of their enemy lies hidden beneath the skin of an old friend. The closer they come to the truth, the more they see danger everywhere. Knowing there is a tiger on the mountain, they still head straight for it. Some answers are worth risking their lives to uncover with their own hands.

Then she arrives, blazing like the mountains and brilliant as a river of stars, cleaving a ray of light through the bloodstained martial world.

He has spent his life keeping himself in check, trusting neither heaven nor humanity, yet he trusts the glimmer in her eyes.

She risks her life to protect him, never shying from blades or arrows, only from the slightest hurt between his brows.

He guards her from the shadows, afraid that one moment's delay will leave them worlds apart.

She charges ahead in the open, afraid that if he suffers, the earth itself will shake.

He gives her armor to turn aside every cold arrow in the world.

She gives him a path home, warming the chill that has haunted half his life.

At each other's side, they give everything.

When they look back, they see only devotion.

In this life, they rely on no one but each other;

in this life, they have nowhere to return but to one another.

Desert smoke rises alone; cold rain falls on the river at night. From mutual wariness to entrusting each other with their lives, those who have lived by the sword finally learn to keep a lamp lit for one another.

With rivers, lakes, and seas to fear no more, who will journey a thousand miles at your side?
