In that long war that spread across the world, countless ordinary people without decision-making power were involved in the torrent of the times. In an inconspicuous bakery in Berlin, the shop owner Hans struggled to survive amidst air raid warnings and a strict rationing system, while taking huge risks to quietly protect his neighbors - Leo, an immigrant shoe repairman from Eastern Europe, and his family; two young soldiers who were forcibly recruited, traveled through the deserts of North Africa, the cold Eastern Front and the broken towns of Western Europe. Gradually seeing the truth among the ruins, my heart was filled with guilt and regret; while in the remote battlefield of East Asia, the girl on the Ryukyu Islands and the survivors who were hit by the flames experienced the darkest moments when their homes were destroyed. Even the pilots who had flown fighter planes, after witnessing the painful cost of the military's lies, resolutely devoted themselves to the secret work of collecting war crime evidence.
