Puppet show artist Liu Huajian and deaf-mute pianist Zhou Mian have known each other since childhood. They developed a secret love for each other because they performed puppets on the same stage, but they were blocked by the world. Liu was forced to marry someone else. After experiencing unfortunate marriages and changes in times, the theater troupe declined and he spent half his life wandering. After becoming stupid due to an accident in his later years, Zhou Mian returned resolutely and spent thirty years waiting to awaken his dusty memories. The two finally met again in their twilight years and used puppets to renew their relationship and sing their love that spans life and death.
