Thousand-Faced Actor

"The Actor with a Thousand Faces" is a period-style Machiavellian novel. It takes the "actor's revenge" as the entry point and tells the story of the protagonist Su Muzhe, who uses the stage as a chess game and lyrics as a weapon to repay the blood debt from the enemy who destroyed his family. Ten years ago, the Eternal Life Palace was destroyed, and Su Muzhe was the only survivor. Ten years later, he transformed into an actor and returned to the world. With the ability in the "Shadowless Heart Sutra" to be able to reproduce everything about others - from habits to secrets, from scars to weaknesses - he moved among the various forces. He only sang stories about dead people on stage, but he broke this rule because today he was going to sing about the secrets of everyone in the audience, and these people were still alive. On the road to revenge, he met Hua Xiangrong, the owner of Tingfeng Tower. The two people who had never shown their true colors looked at each other on both sides of the mirror, and each became the only person the other did not want to "act". From the first step of thirty-two lives on the stage in Qingxi Town, to the revelation of the truth in front of thousands of people at the Tianji City Sword Discussion Meeting, to the final showdown with the master in the Nameless Valley, Su Muzhe gradually changed from a chess piece to a chess player, and finally found something more important than revenge - becoming himself. The work explores identity through the unique perspective of an "actor": after a person has played enough people, can he still find his true self? The supporting cast is full of characters - Shen Jinghong who atones for his father, Yin Hongxiu who exchanges blood lotus tattoos for strength, A Luo who warms Su Muzhe for ten years with a bowl of porridge, and Li Bo who expresses "This is the way of the world" throughout - everyone is playing someone else, and everyone is looking for themselves.
