Sixty Years of Mountains and Rivers

Living in a mountain village in troubled times, the history has been ups and downs for 60 years. The story takes place in the last years of Dayin, an imaginary dynasty. The court tax orders were heavy, transmission to counties and townships was slow, and mountain villages were caught between wealthy households, official officials, refugees, and famine. Shi'ao Village seems to be just a remote mountain village, but in fact it is a microcosm of troubled times: the ancestral hall manages human relations, the granary manages life and death, the official errands control collection and distribution, and the mountain roads control whether news can arrive alive. The protagonist Lu Heng, a modern communications engineer, lives in troubled times and wakes up first in debt. He understands lines, processes, reviews, records and risk control, but he doesn't understand the weight of a bowl of porridge in ancient mountain villages.
