Hanging Pot in Troubled Times

Su Moqing (named Jinghe) was born in the third year of Zhonghe (883) of Emperor Xizong of the Tang Dynasty and died in the fifth year of Taiping and Xingguo (980) of Emperor Taizong of the Song Dynasty. He was 97 years old. Born in Chang'an Imperial Medical Office, he lived among the people after the Huangchao Rebellion and traveled the world with his medical skills. He was not an emperor or general, but he was a witness to all major events in the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms; he saved emperors, generals, beggars, and rebels, and used a silver needle and a prescription to connect the joys and sorrows of the entire troubled world. He was not an official throughout his life, but he was respected as a "national doctor" by all the political powers of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms. He finally passed away peacefully after the unification of the Northern Song Dynasty, leaving behind two handed down medical books: "Medical Records for Troubled Times" and "Essential Prescriptions for Taiping".
