The Story of the Successor War

In 323 BC, Alexander the Great, who conquered the known world, left his last words in Babylon: "To the strongest." He named no heir. The empire was divided. The regent holding a ring, the taciturn Egyptian governor, the one-eyed veteran general, the secretary of humble origins... Seven marshals who had fought side by side drew their swords in front of Alexander's coffin. This was a forty-year war of kings. Some people shed their last drop of blood for loyalty, some sacrificed an army of 100,000 for ambition, and some gambled everything on the gambling table of power, but in the end they became a speck of dust in the pages of history.
