After Being Reborn, How Did the Apocalypse Fall Apart?

In 2126, an unknown substance called [Origin] appeared out of nowhere in the Earth's atmosphere.

From then on, every living thing entered a magnificent age of evolution.

Vines as thick as giant pythons snapped high-voltage towers, herds of calf-sized rats rampaged through city streets, and strange birds as large as small planes flew across the sky…

To stay alive, Jian Xing relied on his newly awakened, practically useless ability and stayed cautious at every turn in the Apocalypse, keeping his head down whenever possible.

In the fifth year of the Apocalypse, he finally made it through, he died.

Reborn, Jian Xing reflected on his past and swore he would use his memories to survive to the very end.

Apocalypse: We’ve detected that you’re a returning veteran player. Your veteran-player welcome benefits are being arranged now.

That night, a mutant mantis came to his door, wielding a pair of giant scythes.

Jian Xing: Wasn’t this thing supposed to appear seven days from now? Why isn’t the story going the way I remember?

How did this perfectly fine Apocalypse suddenly go off the rails?
