I Became an Ancestor in the Great Ming

"This roast goose is a little underdone..." In the Drunken Immortal Tower, a handsome young man in white is critiquing the food when a squad of brocade-clad imperial guards suddenly bursts through the door and kneels across the room. Cheng Yan, a modern young man, never imagined that after dying from an all-night gaming binge, he would transmigrate into the most mysterious "ancestor" of the Ming Dynasty's cultivation world! Even more absurdly, the body he inhabits, which had been near the end of its lifespan, has returned to its peak at age twenty.

Now the whole world thinks he has uncovered the secret of immortality. In reality...

"Ancestor, please advise us on the fighting at the border!"

"No time. I'm working on a recipe for Buddha Jumps Over the Wall."

"Grandmaster, the Japanese pirates..."

"Tell Zhang to go. Isn't he supposed to be good at fighting?"

"But Zhang Juzheng died sixty..."

As a figure on the level of an ancestral teacher to the Jiajing Emperor, Cheng Yan only wants to enjoy good food. But one casual remark of his about making ice with saltpeter is revered as immortal magic. A sketch of a musket he draws while drunk sends the Ministry of War scrambling for it. And when he says that the Yangzhou slender horses are beautiful, twelve "maids" appear at his residence the next day.

"I just want to drink, eat good food, and look at beautiful women. Why is that so hard?" Cheng Yan slumps in his rocking chair, watching yet another batch of officials arrive to seek an "immortal blessing," and sighs. "Um... did anyone bring a chef today?"

This is a hilarious clash between a modern, lazy homebody and ancient political intrigue. When scientific common sense collides with feudal superstition, and a laid-back young man meets fanatical believers, watch Cheng Yan get dragged into becoming the Ming Dynasty's greatest master of showing off, thanks to one misunderstanding after another!
