Posthumous Biography of Prefect Qiao

This article is a continuation of the Ming Dynasty vernacular novel "Qiao Taishou's Random Order of Mandarin Ducks". It combines classical fairy tales and modern market narratives. It tells the story of Qiao Taishou of Hangzhou in the Song Dynasty who was recruited by the heaven to be an immortal official in charge of the human family's mandarin duck genealogy because he cleverly broke up a folk marriage case. Thousands of years later, Governor Qiao was concerned about the three mortal couples he had matched with, and decided to go down to earth to explore the status of their marriages. He came to the modern Haiou Garment Factory invisibly and witnessed six young people, Zhang Agen, Chen Dafeng, Wei Jia, Shen Shaoliu, Li Xiaobi, and Hong Ming, from their youthful emotions and mismatched marriages to their middle-aged experiences of trivial marriages and greed. At the team-building dance in Dianshan Lake, six people exchanged dance partners, and all the regrets, desires and unwillingness deep in their hearts were revealed. Governor Qiao used his fairy eyes to penetrate into the love and complex hearts of the world, completely breaking his obsession with "destined marriage". In the end, he returned to the heaven with a heart full of sadness, stood under the sky, and fell into confusion whether to continue to be in charge of Yuanyangpu. The full text overlooks the various forms of marriage in the world from the perspective of an immortal official, and explores the contradictions between human greed, the nature of marriage, and secular love and marriage.
