Five Dynasties: Old Accounts Mountains and Rivers

Later Zhou Dynasty attacked the outer reaches of the Jianghuai War Zone in the Southern Tang Dynasty. Xu Che, a small official in Cangzhen, was pushed to check the grain on the day when the city was broken and the flag was changed: there were 30,000 shi in the account, but the warehouse was bottomed out. The three-day food delivery order was suppressed, and the old officials of the state government were eager to cut the pot. The new army only recognized the results. If Xu Che admitted the "negligence", he would be a ready scapegoat; if he did not recognize it, he would have to find his own way out of the bad debts. From the torn-out page of the old book, to the "still breathing" laborer in the dead list; from the wrong coupons for the empty ship at Beidukou, to the overlapping of the medicine account and the grain account in the dark night, Xu Che saw bit by bit: this was not a case of stealing grain, but a whole set of cannibalistic order in which the rations were renamed, the living were written dead, and the responsibility was wiped out. Liu Qiniang, Han Ji, Master Cao, and Liang Shichang entered the game one after another, and everyone was trying to figure out their own way of survival in troubled times. Xu Che has to constantly choose between the time limit of the military order, the safety of his life, and the integrity of the evidence chain: whether to hand over one person to ensure temporary peace, or to open up the entire old account and write more people from "off the books" back to the "human world". Twenty-five years of wind and rain have changed the flag, and the general trend cannot be changed, but the little people still want to ask one thing in the gaps between the mountains and rivers: when the world says that this is the most stable, can the rules still count?
