Smoke Spreads Across the Dnieper River

On the way, they met an old man who had lost a loved one, encountered a heavily guarded checkpoint, and encountered the kindness of strangers such as Peter and Nicholas. From the ruins of Kiev to the arduous trek to Lutsk, every step is full of unknowns and dangers, and every stop witnesses the cruelty of war and the glimmer of humanity. The novel does not have a grand war narrative, but only uses the perspective of small characters to describe the fear, perseverance and hope of ordinary people in the war - they struggle in the ruins, watch in desperate situations, fight against suffering with family affection and goodwill, guard the last hope for peace in the smoke-filled land, and tell the most touching resilience and strength of life under war.
