Organizing with AI assistance The catastrophe of Valyria has long become a legend. The Free Fortress collapsed in one night, and the glory of the dragon and the blood witch was reduced to ashes. The bachelors in the city have been arguing about this: Did the dragon kings' excessive blood sacrifice offend certain beings? Or have their wild experiments with magic spiraled out of control? No one knows for sure. But this disaster left an increasingly clear consensus - magic cannot be relied on, it is dangerous and uncontrollable. Since the catastrophe, the magical power of Westeros has gradually declined, glass candles are difficult to light, and prophecies have become increasingly vague. Even the dragons of the Targaryen family, although they are still the masters of the sky, seem to confirm some irreversible law. It is in this context that the concept of "Song of Man" quietly grows in the school city. It is not a formal dogma, but a common destination deep in the hearts of many bachelors: a world dominated by human wisdom and work, without the shadow of witchcraft, the joy and anger of the gods, and the shackles of fate. However, the Citadel cannot openly promote all this - the Targaryen royal family relies on the majesty of dragons and blood to rule the Seven Kingdoms, and any attempt to deny the legitimacy of magic and dragons is a challenge to the foundation of the Iron Throne. Therefore, these debates only take place underground, in secret rooms with dim candlelight, among the code words of messenger crows. The oldest function of the Citadel is to collect, preserve and impart knowledge. But now, the maesters are divided into three factions fighting each other over how to reach the Song of Man. They have a common goal - to make people the masters of human beings; but in terms of their attitude towards "mystery and anomaly", the path to achieve it, and the relationship between knowledge and the public, how to deal with the remaining magical relics, whether the extraordinary truth should be disclosed to civilians, and their core stance on ancient magic, they internally split into three major factions: Destruction, Veil, and Explanation. The three major factions share a consensus at the bottom The ultimate ideal unity: all members regard the "Song of Man" as the ultimate destination of civilization, take the out-of-control destruction of Valyrian witchcraft as a lesson, and believe that the rule of magic and dragons will not last long, and mankind will eventually move towards a secular era free from extraordinary power; at the same time, they adhere to the bottom line of reality, never openly question or attack the Targaryen dragon rule, acquiesce in the legitimacy of the royal family's monopoly on dragon power, and avoid the red line of violating dragon power in all actions. Unanimous perception of extraordinary risks: They all agree that ownerless wild dragons, secretly hidden spells among the people, and out-of-control magical artifacts will cause disasters at the village and town level. Allowing the spread of free witchcraft will definitely breed chaos among the people. Extraordinary relics must be privately controlled by special groups and cannot be allowed to spread wantonly. The bottom line of scholarship and action are the same: the foundation of scholarship should be based on textual research from ancient books, field visits, phenomenon observation, and logical deduction, and unfounded divination and witchcraft should be rejected. Conforming to the general trend of the times: It is unanimously acknowledged that magic continues to decline irreversibly, supernatural power will only continue to weaken, and there is no possibility of witchcraft flourishing again. All long-term plans are based on the background of an era where magic is gradually dissipating. Destruction Faction Core philosophy: Mystery and anomalies should not exist. They are poison to humanity and must be eradicated. (Most written by fans) The origins of this faction can be traced back to the first Reflectors after the Cataclysm of Valyria. They believe that it was the reliance on magic and supernatural forces that destroyed the Freehold. In the same way, if Westeros wants long-term peace and stability, it must eradicate all supernatural existence-including dragons, ghosts, the remnants of the children of the forest, and even any traces left by the gods. Mortal dynasties should be governed purely by secular rules, not dragons and sorcery. The Destructionists' thoughts are deeply stimulated by the study of "Forbidden Knowledge of Valyria". Some maesters discovered an almost crazy idea in the broken Valyrian documents: to create a world built from the "fruits of human efforts", free from divine blessings and punishments, without destiny, and only with the most primitive laws of physics. Objectives and Means: To spend generations to gradually weaken and eventually eliminate all supernatural forces' influence on the world. For dragons, the foundation of the Targaryen family, they advocate replacing their legitimacy with "science." The so-called "science" is not science in the modern sense, but refers to a system of natural knowledge that can be observed, recorded, and retested. They dreamed of a day when maesters could explain thunder and solar eclipses without resorting to gods or witchcraft; and where people believed in data and observations rather than prophecies and curses. Due to the Targaryen red line on dragon control, the faction will never publicly advocate hunting the royal dragon. The cleanup targets only private witchcraft hidden among the people, ownerless ancient magic relics, and wandering spellcasters in the mountains. They formulated a multi-generational centenary plan: to promote a Gezhi academic system centered on field verification and objective observation, abandon spells, divination, and witchcraft prophecies, and use verifiable secular principles such as farming, celestial phenomena, and craftsmanship to dispel folk witchcraft worship, and erase the rationality of extraordinary power in the hearts of the people from its roots. The long-term plan is to wait until the dragons naturally wither and the magic is almost gone, then burn all witchcraft manuscripts, completely erase the supernatural beliefs, and build a completely secular mortal world. Five secret mottos are adhered to internally: Survive, Cover, Protect People, Destroy, and Know. Mortal survival is the top priority, and priority is given to quelling out-of-control magical disasters that destroy villages and towns; cleanup operations and magical relics are strictly concealed from civilians to avoid large-scale territorial unrest; when danger breaks out, priority is given to protecting the people at the bottom and minimizing casualties; all uncontrolled extraordinary relics with hidden dangers are destroyed immediately if conditions permit, and long-term storage is refused; only basic natural observations are recorded, and data collection must not delay the core task of eradicating stray magic. Attitude towards the royal family, nobles, and people Facing the Targaryen royal family: Acting with extreme restraint, only writing in a vague manner, requesting the royal family to strictly investigate private possession of witchcraft among the people, and forcibly confiscate folk magic antiquities. There are no words in the writing that are restrictive or harmful to the dragon. He secretly studied the physiological characteristics of dragons in private, trying to use secular theories to deconstruct the dragons and dispel the people's divine worship of dragons, but he never revealed the idea of killing and restraining the dragons to avoid accusations of treason. If internal fighting breaks out in the royal family (such as Dance of the Blood Dragon), they can secretly form a team to help appropriately and take advantage of the internal fighting in the royal family to weaken the opportunity for the extraordinary power to be revealed to the outside world. Facing the noble lords of the seven countries: Mainly make friends with the old nobles who are afraid of chaos caused by folk witchcraft and value the stability of their territories. Persuading the lords to conceal hidden spells will cause disasters. Persuading the lords to invest money and send people to cooperate with the bachelor to clear away the folk spells. Relying on the acquiescence of the nobles to carry out the witch eradication operation in exchange for the authority to investigate freely in the territory. Facing civilians and craftsmen: Completely block all supernatural-related knowledge, and never reveal the truth about magic and dragon visions. Take the initiative to go to the countryside to popularize agricultural science and craftsmanship, replace witchcraft and divination customs with practical secular knowledge, and completely eradicate the folk understanding of magic. Opposing views of the factions Disdain the Veil Sect for simply sealing up magical relics, believing that the long-term accumulation of hidden dangers will eventually explode and repeat the mini-Valyrian catastrophe; they denounce the Ming Sect for studying ancient witchcraft as a legacy of raising tigers, and over-analyzing extraordinary principles will spawn a large number of private private magicians. Curtain Faction Core philosophy: The mystery cannot be eliminated, and the danger is uncontrollable. Mystery should not be accessible to ordinary people; it should be hidden behind a veil. Most of the bachelors of the Veil Sect are cautious. They've seen countless attempts to "demystify" end in disaster. Their core belief comes from a dark understanding of the nature of the world: that the world is made of "holes." Those anomalies—talking shadows, everlasting flames, pale figures wandering the far north—are not outsiders, but holes in the world's own code. Messing with these vulnerabilities and trying to eradicate them often leads to more severe crashes. Goals and means: Maintain the curtain between "normality" and "abnormality". It is expected that ordinary people will no longer be aware of the existence of abnormalities and let them live in a "sane and ordinary world". It is believed that ordinary people have shallow minds. After knowing the truth, they will set off disorderly witchcraft worship and subvert the feudal order. The duty of the maesters is not to slay dragons, nor to study the nature of the White Walkers, but to weave cover stories and keep all anomalies silent. They believe that humans have spent most of the 25,000 years huddled around campfires, fearful of things they don't understand. Today, abnormalities have not diminished, they have just learned to hide. The universe is deliberately absurd and incredible to mock mortal reason. Nothing can protect humans, humans must protect themselves - not fighting in the sun, but in the shadows fighting anomalies to prevent them from being exposed. Position in this world: The Veils maintain an ambiguous relationship with the Targaryens. They publicly praise dragons as "proof of Valyrian noble blood", but privately record dragons as "anomalous entities to be strictly monitored". They don't want to kill the dragon like the Destructionists do - that would be too dangerous and could cause the "Tearing of the Veil". They just carefully maintained a balance: let the nobles fear the power of dragons, and let the common people regard dragons as legends rather than daily life. Their biggest enemies are the lunatics of the Ming Dynasty who "embrace anomalies." Explanation Faction Faction Core Philosophy Core Philosophy: Unravel the mysteries and anomalies and control them. Why not live in symbiosis with anomalies? There must be a reason for existence. The Jie Ming Sect is one of the oldest schools in the city and is closest to the original function of the bachelor to "gather and teach knowledge". They are opposed to the radicalism of the Destructionists - burning books is the greatest sin; and they are also opposed to the passivity of the Veilists - hiding anomalies does not solve the problem, it will only allow fear to grow in the darkness. Core proposition: Magic dragons, ancient witchcraft, and magical artifacts all have inherent operating laws. Supernatural power itself is not a natural disaster, and its harm is equivalent to natural disasters such as flash floods and wildfires. Deliberate burning and covering up of magical knowledge are the biggest shackles that hinder humans from reaching the Song of Man. Adhere to the three core tasks: knowledge, protection, and storage. Ge Zhi means collecting and sealing the relics of folk magic, dismantling the logic of power operation, stripping the extraordinary attributes and transforming them into practical skills of farming, craftsmanship, and city construction; Guardian means actively resisting out-of-control spells and wild wild dragons, demarcating the boundaries of extraordinary activities, and reducing civilian casualties; collecting means creating an exclusive book storage attic to isolate the leakage of magical power, and conduct long-term continuous observation and research. The faction adheres to the concept of seeking knowledge without barriers and believes that deliberately concealing the truth is equivalent to self-imprisonment: the Destruction Faction burns classics just like the ancient church imprisoned the true knowledge of heaven and earth, trapping people in ignorance and fear of magic; the Veil Faction artificially separates the truth from the secular world, and long-term concealment will only give rise to underground private practice of witchcraft. Simply destroying and isolating it will not last long. Only by fully understanding the essence of dragon power and witchcraft can humans distinguish the pros and cons on their own, and make a smooth transition to mortal civilization amid the natural decline of magic. Goals and means: Study anomalies and gain knowledge from anomalies. Often, the study of anomalies provides valuable insights that improve life for all of humanity. They believe that the so-called "abnormality" is just the "normality" that has not yet been understood. Today's magic may be tomorrow's physics. They do not reject symbiosis with anomalies, but they require full understanding. They have a beautiful vision: to let knowledge that has been obscured by fear and superstition finally be bathed in the sun. Every human being should have the right to know the truth about the world instead of living behind lies and curtains. "Suppressing knowledge only makes it more dangerous and leaves us all huddled in the dark shivering. A Place in the World: The Explanation faction has the largest number of people in the city, but is deeply divided. The moderates advocate only studying the anomalies that have been "explained" (that is, those phenomena that can be explained by natural philosophy), while the radicals advocate boldly exploring all unknowns like the Valyrian people. The turmoil before the Dance of the Blood Dragon made their voices weaker - the Targaryen family regarded all "research" on dragons as transgression. But they still kept the banned books secretly. He uses glass candles to conduct forbidden experiments, trying to find a path to the "Song of Man" between destruction and concealment. The faction has no strict entry requirements and no fixed leader. As long as you agree with "analytical extraordinary and controllable pursuit of knowledge", you can join. All bachelors who are willing to share research have the right to speak. There is an exclusive book collection loft deep in the city, which contains Valerian dragon science manuscripts and witchcraft observation records. There are no restrictions on internal reading, and strict external restrictions; the representative character can be set as Brother Bath, who is deeply involved in the study of the unnatural evolution history of dragons. They do not actively destroy the mild and harmless magic relics, and are the only group among the three factions to sort out the laws of dragon growth and assist the royal family in taming dragons. Opposing views of the factions The Destruction Faction simply destroys magic and will only give birth to underground magicians; the Veil Faction blindly seals up the dragons. If we do not treat the symptoms, the storage space will eventually be saturated, and hidden dangers will only continue to accumulate. We advocate controlled research under the framework of the Targaryen Dragon Power, appropriate use of the declining supernatural power, to understand rather than destroy, and to hide and move toward the song of humanity Summary of the core differences between the three factions (comparison of royal family, nobles, and people) Same points: 1. The ultimate goal is the same: the three factions all agree on the other side of "The Song of Man" - a world where humans control their own destiny and are not at the mercy of supernatural forces. They all believe that the catastrophe of Valyria is a warning: excessive reliance on uncontrollable forces will eventually lead to destruction. 2. Common attitude towards the Targaryens: Before the Dance of the Dragons, no faction dared to openly oppose the existence of dragons. They all "dealt" with the existence of dragons in their own way - the Destruction faction secretly studied its weaknesses, the Veil faction classified them as "anomalies that need to be monitored", and the Explanation faction tried to understand the reproduction and decline of dragons from a biological perspective. 3. Inheritance of the traditional functions of the academy: The three factions all acknowledge that the academy should preserve knowledge. The difference lies in what to do after preservation - destroy, hide or make it public. The nature of the core dispute: The destruction faction believes that "coexistence" is weakness and anomalies must be eliminated; the curtain faction believes that "annihilation" is arrogance and will only cause backlash; the enlightenment faction believes that "annihilation" and "hiding" are both escapes, and only understanding can bring true freedom. Br> These three paths compete fiercely under the candlelight of Westeros. And a young member of the Targaryen family - who has dragon blood but longs for knowledge, is born in a family of magic but yearns for the Song of Man - will be involved in this undercurrent. Can he join forces among the three factions and find his own way? (The description feels like Vidi) Or, the Song of Man has always been an illusion, and the era of dragons and magic is far from over?
