Outside the Light Cone

Destiny beyond the light cone Human beings always like to talk about fate, as if it is a thread that has been woven long ago, entangled from birth to dust. Until I stood at a deep space observatory and really saw a light cone for the first time. It is not a weapon, not an illusion, it is the gentlest and cruelest boundary of the universe. A ray of light starts from a certain point and spreads out to the past and future, like a drop of ink falling into the darkness, opening an irreversible circle. Everything that can be seen, affected, encountered, and said goodbye to you is trapped in this slowly expanding light film. And outside the light cone, there is eternal unknowability. You think fate is playing tricks on you, but in fact it is just the speed of light. You think missing it is a pity, but in fact it is because the light has not arrived yet. You think the future is already determined, but it is still outside your light cone and cannot even be touched by information. Some people spend their whole lives spinning in their own light cone, calling limited encounters fate and the news that has not arrived as impermanence. Little do we know - each of us is an island expanding at the speed of light. Who can you meet, what can you change, and which star can you fall in love with? The silent answers were written as early as the light cone was formed. I looked out the window at the boundless blackness, and suddenly realized: the so-called destiny is just light traveling slowly through the universe.
