The Edict of the Barrierlands

A laid-back story. The writing isn't great, and the later part is just an outline. The protagonist and his friends are chosen to enter a game. During the game, Su Mo reunites with his uncle Chen Yun and his close friend Bai Ning, and meets Xu Lin. After clearing the game, they arrive in a world called the Hospital. From what they hear people discussing, it seems to be a place where the dead end up. They also have supernatural abilities known as "illnesses." The game's guide gives Su Mo an address, leading him to a bookstore where he obtains the Rules for the Afflicted. The rules say that if they survive for a month, they can return to their original world. Every ten days, another game takes place, and every few days they can even return to their original world for a short while. The Rules for the Afflicted send them to the Hospital, where they gain supernatural abilities called "illnesses." Things seem fairly normal at first, but everything changes during a bounty mission. They inevitably kill someone during the mission, making the whole team targets of a bounty. Bai Ning, Su Mo, and Jie Hai all die in the hunt. Strangely, Su Mo and Jie Hai are reborn in the past, when Su Mo is five years old. After finding Chen Yun and confirming the situation, they learn that everyone who failed to clear the game has been reborn with their memories and illnesses intact. When the game begins again, some people don't show up, presumably because they cleared it. But they meet someone they know: Bai Ning's older sister, Bai Xianning. Everyone except Su Mo and Jie Hai chooses to leave. After several cycles, a change of fate occurs: Bai Xian, who has a mutual secret crush on Su Mo, arrives. After they send her out, something goes wrong... All right, I can't say any more or it'll spoil the story. There aren't many tearjerker moments, so it's a fairly relaxing read, though it might be a long one. Pure romance. I'm no good at writing tearjerkers.
