In the early days of the founding of New China, there was a lot of waste waiting to be done. In 1957, the tail flame of the Soviet R-7 intercontinental missile pierced the sky of Baikonur, and the American Cape Canaveral Thor rocket roared on the launch pad. New China was unwilling to lag behind, and a worldwide space race began. In the winter of 1958, the central government issued a secret order: the First Design Institute moved to Shanghai and was renamed Shanghai Mechanical and Electrical Design Institute. It took up the banner of developing China's aerospace industry and devoted all its efforts to the development of the "581 Sky Project." All walks of life in Shanghai worked together and worked hard to compose a touching hymn for my country's aerospace industry. On February 19, 1960, China's first self-developed T-7M sounding rocket was ignited and lifted off from the old port beach in Nanhui, Shanghai. The moment the rocket broke through the sky, it officially kicked off the development of China's space rockets. From then on, the Chinese nation embarked on a journey to dream of the stars.
