Legacy

Shen Luo is a corpse plastic surgeon. His hands were very steady and he could repair a broken face as if it were asleep. But he has a secret that no one knows - every time he touches the body, he occasionally hears the echo of the deceased's last thoughts before they died. A word, a picture, a taste. Incomplete, vague, and too late to finish. He called this "the legacy sound". The price is that every time he hears it, a piece of his own memory will be overwritten by the memory fragments of the deceased. He didn't know what was missing, he only knew that there was something in his mind that didn't belong to him. He records everything in a notebook. The first page of the notebook reads: "If one day I no longer recognize myself, please turn to this page." Seven years into the industry, more than ninety echoes, and more than ninety replaced memories. He couldn't remember why he chose this job. Until one day, unexpected connections began to appear between the memory fragments left by different deceased people. Put together, they seem to point to the same buried truth. And at the center of that truth stood a self he didn't recognize.
