I Miss You, Rain or Shine

Our story begins on the day we register for college. Among the bustling crowd, I saw her at a glance - the girl with a ponytail and eyes as bright as falling into the stars. She also saw me, was stunned for a moment, then burst into laughter, pointed at me, and then pointed at the T-shirt she was wearing that was similar in style but in ridiculous colors. At that moment, distant memories burst open. I remembered that when we were six years old, we were fighting over the swing. She left a row of shallow teeth marks on my arm, and I tore her braid apart. When we were ten years old, we sat side by side under the old locust tree, sharing the same red bean popsicle. The sticky sugar water dripped along the stick and onto the cement floor, leaving dark marks in the summer sun. When she was fifteen years old, on the way home from school, she suddenly stopped, pointed at the blazing sunset on the horizon and said, "Look, does it look like the score on your physics test paper yesterday?" I chased her through three streets, and my laughter filled the entire way home. University is just a continuation of our "battlefield". In class group assignments, we are always the group that quarrels the most with each other but also has the best cooperation; in the cafeteria, she would secretly take the green peppers from my plate and throw the carrots she doesn't like; on weekends, we hang out with friends, go on outings, watch movies, and wander around the campus late at night. All ordinary scenes are full of laughter because of our presence. Everyone said that the air was happy wherever we were. At that time, we thought that such days, like the sunshine in early summer, would always be bright and never run out.
