I Was Just Sweeping the Floor, How Did I Sweep Up an Immortal Realm?

In the grand order above the Nine Heavens, “cleanliness” is the fundamental law that sustains the Three Realms and resists entropy. Ever since the primordial chaos first began to take shape, chaos and order have ceaselessly struggled against each other. To address this, the Celestial Sanitation Bureau was established to clean up all forms of “filth,” from physical dust to paradoxes of causality. Yet eternity in the Celestial Realm has led to stagnation. The Bureau’s immortal officials have gradually come to regard this fundamental duty as tedious paperwork, obsessing over merit rankings and their seats at the Peach Banquet while neglecting truly “high-risk filth,” such as the baleful energy of ancient battlefields and the remnants of paradoxes from temporal rifts. As the shadow of the Age of Decline looms, the ranks of the immortal officials are shrinking, while “filth” piles up like mountains. An urgent “Great Cleanup of the Millennium” is at hand, yet there is no one available to carry it out. In the face of crisis, an ancient clause is invoked: recruit “assistant officers” from the mortal realm. The connections between the Celestial Realm and the human world are often hidden in overlooked corners: behind the door of an office supply closet, inside a rusted electrical meter box in an old residential compound, between damaged bookshelves deep in a library, or at the end of a hospital fire escape in the dead of night. Mortals who spend a long time around these gateways between the two realms may unconsciously become unusually tidy or slovenly, making them potential “recruitment sites.” Thus, cleaning in the human world takes on a double meaning: sweeping away dust to keep life orderly, while possibly, without even realizing it, touching the gears that keep the world in balance. The most ordinary brooms and cleaning products may prove to be the keys to clearing blockages in the laws of the universe. Ironically, the philosophy of “putting everything in its proper place” embodied in the menial physical labor scorned by the Celestial Realm, and the resolve to face “filth” head-on, are precisely what the immortal officials lack. A revolution born of the ordinary, one that will shake the laws of the universe, is already taking root.
