Jiaojiao Is Reborn and Marries Again, Breaking the Chaste Crown Prince’s Vows

Rumor has it the Crown Prince is ruthless, impotent, and cursed to lose his wives. The noble ladies of the capital avoid him like the plague. Yet Jiang Jiuzi goes out of her way to seduce him. The Crown Prince says, “You’re nothing but a tool of a Crown Princess. You don’t need feelings, just a quick hand with a blade. If you do your job well, you may use my power as you please. If you fail, you’ll die, and your entire clan will be executed.” What are feelings, anyway? Reborn into a second life, Jiang Jiuzi has only a beast of vengeance living in her heart. Using the Crown Prince’s influence, she kills her enemies, topples the great clans, and elevates the newly powerful. Just as she achieves fame and success, she fakes her death and slips away, returning to the bitterly cold frontier. Three years later, the new emperor ascends the throne, yet still has not taken an empress. His ministers are beside themselves with worry. Believing the rumors to be true, they search the land for doctors who can treat his mysterious affliction. Little do they know that their emperor is currently keeping watch, miserable, atop a wall in the bitterly cold frontier. He stares at the happy couple coming and going together in the little courtyard, his eyes blood red. At last, the young emperor corners a woman against the wall. His voice is tender and coaxing: “Xiao Jiu, be good and come back to the capital to be my empress, all right? Stop seeing other men, hmm?” Jiang Jiuzi presses her lips together. “No...” For the first time, the usually calm and restrained emperor loses control. He fiercely silences her with a kiss. “Xiao Jiu, you promised. Otherwise, you’ll cry...”
