The Roots in the Mountain Nest

Looking back for half a lifetime, nostalgia is the root rooted in the mountains; as time goes by, inheritance is the soul engraved in the bones and blood. Starting from looking back and writing in 2003, tracing back to the years in the mountains and fields from 1970 to 1982, and then returning to the place of my heart in 2006, this deep mountain hides the imprint of a generation's life, as well as the context and persistence of a place's water and soil. The mountain guarding order on the talisman is the original intention engraved in the old objects; the inheritance of the name is the warmth hidden in the local accent; the tickets under the walnut tree and the incense in the mountains are the most real human fireworks in the years of poverty. The treasures in the mountains and valleys and the morning and evening of the humming birds are the gentle and beautiful gifts of nature. But there are winds and rains in the deep mountains, the cries of the water mill house linger in the night, the shadows under the old peach trees hide secrets, the legend of the swan holding the egg, the story of the green spirit snake of the fir god, the mysterious dialogue of the wild goat's cry, the silent prophecy of fate and pulse, make the daily life in the mountains and fields wrapped in unknown waves, and the mountain breeze is also filled with lingering sadness. Fortunately, the magpies have fallen from the branches and the birds have protected the roots. Even if the years roll by and even if the homesickness lasts, the roots rooted in the mountain nests will always lead the way home. The inheritance integrated in the blood will eventually guide the direction of the heart - traveling through thousands of rivers and mountains, the place where the heart returns is still the deep mountains of my hometown.
