A Heart Left in Indigo

[Resilient, sharp-tongued cultural-creative designer VS reserved, scheming museum director] [Childhood sweethearts × mutual healing × one-on-one happy ending × romance about intangible cultural heritage] The first time they meet, her cruel ex-boyfriend betrays and frames her. Alone onstage as a crowd of thousands hurl insults at her, she finds the courage to fight back when he hands her a blue resist-dyed shawl. The next time they meet, he sabotages her blind date, pulls her neck out of the mud and sand where she has buried it, and insists she face the ugly scars she would rather ignore. Then she runs, he pursues, and no matter how hard she tries, she cannot escape the traps he has laid at every turn. She keeps getting caught, until he finally wins her over. As it turns out, all he wants is for her to join him in building a blue-dye business, and he even orders her not to get distracted by dating. Just as she devotes herself entirely to her work, the boomerang he threw comes back and hits him. Now willingly captured by love, he complains in a pitiful, self-effacing voice: “Not every man will slow down your sword arm. Take me, for instance.” She refuses. “No. I just want to protect blue resist-dyeing.” He silences her with a kiss. “Fine. You protect blue resist-dyeing, and I’ll protect you.” Later, she puts on a red wedding dress made with colored-resist-dyeing techniques and wraps herself up as a gift, secretly planning a wedding that turns the tables on tradition. But once again, she falls into the trap he has been plotting for ages, setting out on an inescapable path to happiness for the rest of their lives.
