To Miss Courage

After falling from the heights to rock bottom, how can a 35-year-old woman save herself? Mu Qingwei flees Chengdu and returns to her hometown of Haikou, never expecting to stir up ripples in her already troubled family. Her 62-year-old father, Mu Weidong, is estranged from his eldest son and daughter, and has to suppress the late-in-life romance budding in his heart. Her 38-year-old eldest brother, Mu Xiangyang, shoulders the burden of being both brother and father, only to find himself pursued relentlessly by a 24-year-old woman. Her 26-year-old younger brother, Mu Tingzu, looks sunny on the outside but is weighed down by pressure within, and secretly loves a 35-year-old single supermarket owner. Mu Qingwei must not only untangle her family’s knotted relationships, but also face the brutal transition from advertising director to restaurant server. The vibrant street life of Haikou, the everyday warmth of Coconut City, and an older-woman-younger-man romance all come together in this brave woman’s story of turning her life around. Rooted in the lifeblood of the city, this is a story of ordinary people, with the journey of a woman’s life reflecting the changes of an era.
