Falling for You, Against All Odds

[A rising business tycoon and a stunning painter] [A groveling ex wins her back; both leads are sexually inexperienced]

There was a hot post on Wenda University’s campus forum: “Jiang Qingsheng, the art department’s campus beauty, and Cen Huaiyu, the finance department’s campus heartthrob, are the most unlikely couple.” Yet countless nights found them entwined in secret, cheek to cheek and temple to temple.

Everyone said Cen Huaiyu was cold by nature. Jiang Qingsheng thought her passionate love could melt the iceberg. Then she saw him tenderly caring for Zhao Mutong at the hospital, and her deluded one-woman show came to an end.

The fortune-telling priest read her unlucky lot and said, “Young lady, cut your losses in time. Keep moving forward.”

So she said, “The priest says this red agate bracelet brings me bad luck, and so does the person who gave it to me. Cen Huaiyu, let’s break up.”

Right in front of him, she snapped the bracelet’s cord. In a single night, everything fell apart.

When they deliberately reunited, he had steadily climbed the ladder to become a powerful business tycoon, a man above the masses. She was as sharp and stunning as ever, but now with an added air of aloofness that kept people at a distance.

He attended her art exhibition and soon became its mysterious sponsor. At a dinner, someone with a keen eye spotted the red agate bracelet on his wrist and teased him, “Mr. Cen, I didn’t know you liked such delicate things.”

He gave a low laugh. “My ex-girlfriend left it behind. It reminds me of her.”

The next day, an interview with Jiang Qingsheng came out. Asked what she thought of exes, she replied, “A good ex should be as if they were dead.” The gossip media twisted her words, and the story became: “The ex is dead.”

“Through mountains and rivers, among swaying flowers and trees, she is spring itself, returning to the world time and again.”
