The Enchantress's Couch

Jiang Nian had always been proud and haughty. She loved fine clothes and beautiful people, and adored being the center of attention. She made two terrible mistakes in her life: saving the dying Zhi Nu when she was twelve, and smashing the betrothal jade pendant against him when she was fifteen, crushing his foolish hopes. “Zhi Nu, how dare you even dream of it!” As she laughed at him amid the shattered jade, she never imagined what it would feel like to see a pearl sink into the mud. Huyan Ji was sent to Liang as a hostage at the age of eight. His restraint was not cowardice. Yet he fell for this shallow, hypocritical woman who strutted around like a peacock. She never bothered to hide her contempt for him. She never thought that one day she would become a slave in his royal court. “The only person you can rely on now is me. Even if I tell you to strip and crawl like a dog, you’ll do it, won’t you?” Amusement and defiance colored the man’s voice. But when Jiang Nian really shed her clothes and bent over, he lost control, gripping her pale wrist and yanking her toward him. He whispered hoarsely in her ear, “Elder Sister...” It turned out that in this revenge, the first to bow had never been the prisoner.
