Half-Ripe

Meng Sheng and Shang Boyu dated for three years and were married for three, and the two of them were inseparable. Then one day, an unfamiliar text message told her Shang Boyu was cheating. She assumed it was a prank, but then she saw him with her own eyes, holding another woman and kissing her passionately. In that moment, all the happiness and beautiful memories of the past few years came crashing down inside her, sending her plunging into an abyss.

Following the instructions in the text messages, she gathered evidence that Shang Boyu had cheated and given his mistress a villa, designer bags, jewelry, and more. She then hired Pei Sui, one of the capital’s top lawyers, to represent her in the divorce proceedings. When the affair came to light, Shang Boyu pleaded desperately, his eyes red. “Shengsheng, I was wrong. I really love you so much. Please give me another chance.” Meng Sheng’s heart was already steeped in disappointment. “Your love is too filthy. I don’t want it.”

*Everyone in the capital’s elite circles knew that Pei Sui, a leading figure in the legal world, was refined and aloof, someone no one could ever presume to approach, let alone defile. Meng Sheng thought so, too. Yet this was the very man who said to her, “I could help you heal. Would you consider it?”
