Spring Blossoms in Radiance

Xie Zhuo, son of the Grand Princess, was offering incense on the emperor’s behalf at Foning Temple when he came across a young woman who had been set up. Stunningly beautiful and alluring, she held a stack of banknotes and leaned close to his ear. “Help me.” Calm and self-controlled, Xie Zhuo inexplicably failed to push her away at once. From then on, the upright and proper Xie Zhuo had a secret he could never speak of. At the Grand Princess’s flower-viewing banquet, Xie Zhuo saw once again the woman who haunted his dreams night after night. He then learned that she was Gu Rong, the eldest daughter of the Earl of Ruyang’s household, a young lady rarely seen in public but notorious all the same. At that moment, she was kneeling meekly at his mother’s feet, holding a jade pendant and pleading helplessly for his mother to consider the longstanding ties between their families and find her a husband she could entrust her life to. Xie Zhuo was flustered and utterly bewildered.

Gu Rong had been reborn. She was back on the day she had been set up at Foning Temple while praying for her deceased mother. In her previous life, disoriented and panicked, she had stumbled into Pei Xuqing, who was lodging at the temple while studying. Overcome with guilt, she had willingly married him. In the years that followed, she poured everything she had into spending the Rong family fortune to pave the way for Pei Xuqing, whom the Marquis of Yongning refused to acknowledge. Pei Xuqing rose to the highest ranks of the court, while she ended up dead from a cup of poisoned wine. Only when she died did she realize how foolish and blind she had been to mistake a wolf for her savior. A selfish father, a wicked stepmother, a frail younger brother, and a reborn Gu Rong. This time, she would change her fate and take revenge, starting at Foning Temple. Tsk, the man she picked really is handsome. Never mind, she has boxes of silver notes! A life of luxury should be seized while the chance is there, and spring’s splendor deserves to shine.
