Biting into a Red Apricot

When Pei Jingchuan first met Jiang Mei, she stood beneath a raised platform clutching a pipa, displayed like merchandise for people to choose from. Over the next three years, Pei Jingchuan gradually shaped her into the woman he wanted. He thought Jiang Mei was gentle and alluring, a canary who couldn't live without him. A little bird wasn't worth saying “I love you” to. It wasn't until Jiang Mei vanished without a trace that Pei Jingchuan suddenly realized she had long since seeped into his very bones. He went mad searching for her, but never heard a single word from her again.

“Sir, please save my husband!”

“Husband?” He rolled the word around in his mouth, the corners of his lips curling into a cold smile. “Jiang Mei, who gave you the nerve to leave me and marry someone else?”

The woman looked bewildered. “Sir, have we met before?”

Pei Jingchuan: “...”

Oh, we haven't met before? Then let's get properly reacquainted!
