The Empress Kicks Back and Gossips, While the Mad Tyrant Spoils Her Rotten

Just a year after Gu Jianchu entered the palace, while the other consorts were scheming over how to win the emperor’s favor, she was completely absorbed in her gossip System. [Shocking! The Princess’s seemingly honest husband has been indulging in a life of wine and women behind her back, and bribing officials.] [Well, would you look at that! The heir of the Duke of Ning’s household is all looks and no substance. He’s not only fooling around with his cousin, but also keeping a mistress outside, and the son she bore isn’t even his.] [The Countess of An’nan is having an affair with a stablehand. The Count of An’nan has a huge green hat on his head.] [The young general who guards the nation is impotent, so he had his younger brother take his place in bed. She even had twins. Then, to regain his self-respect, he started tormenting his wife.] Gu Jianchu was so engrossed in the gossip that she didn’t notice the emperor’s expression growing increasingly strange beside her. Before long, the princess discovered her husband’s debauched lifestyle and had him castrated. She also kicked out the whole family of parasites who had been leeching off her. After the heir of the Duke of Ning’s household was divorced by his wife, he learned that the son his mistress bore wasn’t his. He was so furious he vomited blood on the spot. The young general who guards the nation found out that his father-in-law was no pushover: the man broke one of the general’s legs and exposed his embezzlement of military rations. Gu Jianchu only wanted to laze around and enjoy the gossip each day. She couldn’t understand how she and the tyrant had grown so close, until she became the most important person in his heart. Maybe she was just lucky.
